Berna Özdemir is an oncologist and gender medicine expert at the University of Bern, where her work focuses on sex-based differences in cancer biology, treatment toxicity, dosing, and clinical outcomes. Her research aims to improve precision medicine approaches by integrating sex and gender considerations into cancer care and clinical research.
As a clinician-scientist, she leads and contributes to clinical trials, secures competitive research funding, and develops national and international research collaborations. Her work spans translational and clinical oncology, with a particular focus on improving evidence for sex-specific approaches to cancer treatment and survivorship.
Berna Özdemir is an active member of the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) Gender Medicine Task Force and is committed to advancing the integration of sex and gender medicine into medical education, scientific conferences, and public engagement. Through her research, teaching, and advocacy, she works to strengthen awareness of sex and gender differences in healthcare and to promote more equitable and effective cancer care.

Carole Clair is a full Professor of General Internal Medicine at the University of Lausanne and Head of the Department of Ambulatory Care at Unisanté.

She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and holds an MSc in Clinical Epidemiology from the Harvard School of Public Health.

Her research focuses on the role of sex and gender in clinical medicine and epidemiology. She leads initiatives to integrate gender medicine into medical education and currently chairs the SNSF National Research Programme NRP 83 on Gender Medicine and Health.

Christine Meyer-Zürn is Professor of Cardiology at the University Hospital Basel and the Cardiovascular Research Institute Basel (CRIB) and Co-Director of the Women’s Heart Health Program. Her clinical and research interests focus on sex- and gender-specific cardiovascular medicine, cardiac autonomic function, the heart brain axis, and cardiovascular prevention in women. She is committed to advancing equitable, evidence-based cardiovascular care and strengthening the representation of women in cardiovascular research.

Melissa Dominicé Dao is Senior Staff Physician in the Department of Community Medicine and Primary Care at the Geneva University Hospitals (HUG) and Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Geneva. She specializes in general internal medicine, transcultural and transgender healthcare and diversity in medicine. She founded and co-directs “HUG Allies of Diversity”, a clinical program aimed to improve care of LGBTQIA+ individuals at the HUG. She is co-president of the “Medicine, Gender and Equity” group at the Faculty of Medicine and and co-directs the Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Health and Diversity offered jointly by the Universities of Geneva and Lausanne. Her work focuses on equitable access to healthcare, physician–patient communication, gender diversity, and the care of LGBTQIA+ individuals.

Carolin Lerchenmüller is Chair of Gender Medicine at the University of Zurich and leads the Women’s Heart Health Program at University Hospital Zurich.

Her research focuses on cardiovascular health, with particular emphasis on sex differences and the protective effects of exercise.

She also investigates global gaps in gender medicine research and works to advance equity, diversity, and inclusive healthcare practices.
