Swiss Gender Medicine Symposium
Vision
We imagine a world in which every individual can benefit
equally from genderspecific medicine.

Our Goal
Our aim is to promote research into the influence of biological and social gender on health and thus improve healthcare for all patients.
The focus of the Swiss Gender Medicine Symposium is broad and is intended to bring gender-specific medicine closer to medical and scientific professionals as well as representatives from business and politics and the general public. Switzerland can play a pioneering role in this field and promote the exchange of ideas on the topic of gender-specific medicine beyond the country's borders in an international environment in the future.
Swiss Gender Medicine Symposium 2025
Gender medicine is an important part of precision medicine that takes into account gender-specific differences in biology and life circumstances and their influence on diseases in order to develop customized health solutions for the respective gender.
The symposium will provide a platform where renowned experts and pioneers in gender medicine will come together to present and further develop the latest findings, innovative approaches and pioneering research projects. The event aims to raise awareness of gender-specific differences in medicine and promote dialog between experts, researchers and decision-makers.

National Initiative Gender Medicine
In Switzerland, numerous people, institutions and organizations are committed to gender medicine. The basis of the initiative is the cooperation of 5 Swiss medical faculties in gender medicine, which is being expanded by additional partners. The aim of the symposium is to merge these networking efforts into a network in order to strengthen the innovative approach of gender medicine in Switzerland and make it internationally visible.
The federal government has also now recognized the importance of the field. A year ago, the Federal Council launched the National Research Program " Gender Medicine and Health " with the aim of creating an evidence-based knowledge base in Switzerland for taking the dimensions of sex and gender into account in the areas of health research, medicine and public health.
